Launch in Abidjan of a support project for agricultural businesses in ACP countries

This project, with an overall portfolio of nearly 37 billion CFA francs, aims at the competitiveness of agricultural value chains and the development of the operational capacities of actors .

The project called ''Business support facility for resilient agricultural value chains'', will concern cashew, cocoa, corn , livestock (sheep, goats, cattle) and optional value chains such as cassava, honey, chickens and eggs.

It was launched on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in Plateau, the business center of Abidjan, by the Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture and rural development, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani who presided over the ceremony in the presence of his peers from the International Cashew Advisory Council (Cicc).

Adjoumani Kobenan Kouassi was delighted with the implementation of the said project, which aims to develop and improve the operational capacities of the actors throughout agricultural value chains in African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) countries.

The ''Business support facility for resilient agricultural value chains'' project should make it possible to strengthen the agility of agricultural entities and their adaptation to scourges such as climate change, armed crises and the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Minister of State, "this project also plans to attract financing and investments, in particular towards practices and value chains at low CO2 emissions and much more resilient to climate change”.

For him, the issue of agriculture is no longer to be demonstrated, insofar as, in addition to being the foundation of our lives and provider of food, this sector of activity has been the main driver of economic development in most African countries for decades.
